Attend only the sessions you need or all-day. 7:30-8:00 a.m. Registration 8:00-8:30 a.m. Welcome and Paperwork 8:30-9:20 a.m. Wood Destroying Organism Species Identification and Biology By familiarizing themselves with the life cycle, social structure and anatomy of beetle, termites, carpenter bees and carpenter ants, pesticide applicators can more accurately identify the correct species requiring control treatments. 9:20-10:10 a.m. Wood Destroying Organism Damage Symptoms and Management Recognition of damage symptoms will be discussed, enabling treatment applicators to manage for them and apply the best control measures. 10:10-10:25 a.m. Break 10:25-11:15 a.m. Structural and Household Pests Identification and Management Pesticide applicators will gain skills in identification of common household pests, such as roaches, ants and flies. Management techniques to monitor and control these pests will be outlined. 11:15-12:05 p.m. Integrated Pest Management of Household Pests Physical control measures, such as sanitation and traps are part of a complete IPM program for structural and household pests. Applicators will learn which techniques to use and when is the most effective time to utilize them. 12:05-1:00 p.m. Lunch – Provided by Spears Environmental Pest Control 1:00-1:50 p.m. Florida Licensing and Safe Pesticide Handling Applicators will be familiarized with Florida’s many rules and regulations addressing pesticide application in and around structures. Learning how to safely work with these products enables the applicator to protect themselves and the environment. 1:50-2:40 p.m. Label Reading and Calculating Application Rates Pesticide applicators must be able to locate the right information on the product label in order to accurately and safely treat for pests. Through a hands-on label reading activity, they will develop this skill. 2:40-2:55 p.m. Break 2:55-3:45 p.m. Identifying and Controlling Lawn and Landscape Insects and Diseases Learning to correctly identify pests is the first step in developing a management strategy. Participants will learn to diagnose and treat problems using Integrated Pest Management. 3:45-4:35 p.m. Identifying and Controlling Lawn and Landscape Weeds Learning to correctly identify weeds is the first step in developing a management plan. Participants will learn life cycles, proper timing and herbicide product choices. 4:35-5:00 p.m. Evaluation / CEUs Issued
