NEW YORK CITY — Mayor Bill de Blasio got another rude wake-up call about his hopes of becoming New York's next governor. A new poll by Data For Progress showed de Blasio dead last among potential gubernatorial candidates, Politico first reported. De Blasio carried both the lowest support — 3 percent — and highest unfavorability rating — 60 percent — in the poll. Gov. Kathy Hochul led the field with 36 percent, followed by Attorney General Letitia James with 22 percent. But de Blasio, when asked Monday, brushed off the poll. He said he wouldn't be mayor if he listened to polls. "It's not where you start, it's where you finish," he said. The poll isn't the only one showing an uphill fight for de Blasio. One recent poll showed de Blasio is the most unpopular politician in New York, behind even former President Donald Trump and former Gov. Andrew Cuomo. Cuomo, in fact, came in third place in the Data For Progress poll. De Blasio has been undaunted by the polling. He has increasingly been less cagey about running for governor and recently unveiled a statewide education proposal that mirrors his signature mayoral achievements of universal 3-K and pre-K.
