PHILADELPHIA — A seven-month pregnant woman was shot and killed Saturday night at her home in Philadelphia's Lawncrest section, according to reports. According to Fox 29, Jessica Covington, 32, was shot at about 8:30 p.m. Saturday outside her home on the 6100 block of Palmetto Street. NBC10 reports she was returning home from her baby shower and was carrying gifts when she was shot in the head and stomach. Covington and her unborn child were taken to a hospital where they both died, Action News reports. The city is offering a $50,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in connection with the deadly shooting. Philadelphia Police Commissioner Danielle Outlaw called the incident "heartbreaking." "While this attack appears to have been targeted, we will not rest until this obviously dangerous individual is in custody," Outlaw said in a statement. "This heinous crime has sent shock waves throughout the country, and also highlights the intentional lack of regard that we are seeing for humanity."
