Recount Called For In Council Rock Race

NEWTOWN, PA — Nicole Khan, a Democrat from Wrightstown who is running for a position on the Council Rock School Board, has filed for a recount in the race, as she and Republican Kristin Marcell are divided by one vote. Khan officially announced the recount on her Facebook campaign page on Monday, Nov. 22. "We want to make sure that every vote is properly counted and the election results truly reflect the will of the voters," she said. The final results of the race, along with several other races in Bucks County, have not been called as of yet due to issues related to the mail-in ballots, according to the Bucks County Board of Elections. She asks that donations to fund her legal team go to her campaign site. Khan has made headlines during the school board race, especially after multiple campaign signs of hers were vandalized throughout Bucks County, with the community and other candidates, including Marcell, sending their support in response. Marcell had been made aware of the recount on Friday, Nov. 19, as she took to her Facebook campaign page asking for donations toward her legal team she will require for the recount. "Tonight I was served with papers indicating that my opponent is challenging the election and requesting a recount." She updated her supporters on Sunday, Nov. 21, to let them know she had reached a financial goal for the legal council related to the recount. All proceeds came from supporters who sent funds to a donation website she had linked to her page. "I couldn't be more amazed by how quickly the community rallied to help me and how generous so many people were in this moment of need," she aid in a statement on the Facebook campaign page.
