1 Dead In Gurnee Road-Rage Incident

GURNEE, IL — A 22-year-old Waukegan man is dead after being shot during a road rage incident in Gurnee over the weekend, police said. Police say the shooting occurred in the area of Waveland Avenue and Grandview Avenue in Gurnee at about 12:05 a.m. on Saturday. The 22-year-old Waukegan man, whose name has not yet been released, was riding passenger in a car that authorities say was driving recklessly just before the shooting. Sign up for Grayslake Patch newsletters, breaking news updatesThe driver of that vehicle turned onto Waveland Avenue and began to slow down, according to a news release from the Gurnee Police Department. A vehicle pulled up next to the car and an occupant in the car began shooting. One of the rounds struck the 22-year-old Waukegan man. The driver in his vehicle took him to the emergency room at Vista East Medical Center in Waukegan where he was pronounced dead. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday with the Lake County Coroner's Office. This incident is being actively investigated by Gurnee Police Detectives and Lake County Major Crime Task Force Investigators.
