Kane Vax Hub Closed For Appointments Thanksgiving Week

BATAVIA, IL — Typically open for vaccination appointments Wednesday and Saturday, the Kane Vax Hub will be closed for the week in light of the Thanksgiving holiday, Kane County Health Department officials announced Monday. Appointments are typically available at the vaccination site, located at 501 N. Randall St. in Batavia's former Sam's Club, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday. Appointments will resume the following week, starting Dec. 1. Illinois residents looking to get vaccinated can choose to get their first shots at the vaccination site, where the booster dose or pediatric vaccine are also offered. The Johnson & Johnson, Pfizer and Moderna vaccines are all available for respective doses at the site. Now recommended to anyone, booster doses are recommended for people older than 18 who received the J&J vaccine at least two months ago. People who were vaccinated with Pfizer or Moderna doses should wait at least six months from first receiving doses to get a booster shot, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. To make an appointment, people interested can visit KaneVax.org or call 855-452-6382 for assistance. For a quicker check-in process, visitors are encouraged to bring their vaccination cards and a signed consent form for the vaccine of their choosing, officials said.
