TUCSON, AZ — Starting off Thanksgiving Day with a turkey trot has become almost as much of a tradition among the athletically-inclined and health conscious as big meal with turkey, stuffing and cranberry sauce.
Tucson's original Thanksgiving Day turkey trot is the Thanksgiving Cross Country Classic, featuring a 5k and a 1.5 mile fun run.
The runs are cross-country style, on dirt, grass and a small amount of asphalt.
The run begins at the southwest corner of Reid Park, at the intersection of 22nd Street and Country Club Road. The women's 5k begins at 8 a.m., the men's 5k begins at 8:45 a.m. and the co-ed fun run begins at 9:30 a.m.
Registration ends at 5 p.m. Tuesday.
