We raised this little (big) guy from 1 day old. He's about 2 months old, and just started trying to crow. Unfortunately we can't keep roosters in Independence so we need to find him another flock to call home. He's calm and a little standoffish but not flighty or overly aggressive. These are large chickens, the roosters can reach up to 14lbs at maturity, but they are slow maturing, taking about 9 months to reach full size. He's gonna be a nice looking bird when he is mature, with pretty, laced iridescent green sheen on this feathers. I've read that black chickens discourage hawks.
