JOLIET, IL — A 37-year-old Lockport man known by the alias of "Cadillac" is now in the Will County Jail after Joliet police say he robbed two people at gunpoint Thursday night. David Aguirre remains in the Will County Jail unable to post his $100,000 bail in connection with charges of aggravated robbery, aggravated battery, theft, battery and resisting a peace officer. Around 6 p.m., Joliet police were sent to the St. Joe's hospital emergency room to interview a man who was injured during a robbery. The victim was in his driveway in the 400 block of Market Street when Aguirre approached, pointing a gun at him, police said. During a struggle over the gun, the victim was struck in the head and when he tried to run away, Aguirre hit him once more, causing him to fall to the ground, police reports indicate. While the injured victim was on the ground, Aguirre removed the man's smartwatch, his necklace and cash from his wallet, police said. That same night, Joliet police say, another disturbance happened in the 200 block of South Ottawa Street. "It was determined that Aguirre and this victim were together earlier in the evening, at which time Aguirre stole money from this victim," Joliet police announced. "Further investigation revealed that Aguirre again produced a black handgun while both were in the victim's vehicle. Aguirre exited the vehicle and the victim drove away." According to police, the victim and Aguirre came into contact one more time on South Ottawa Street, and this second incident prompted a fight. "The victim's vehicle was still in drive as the fight ensued and struck a house, causing no damage," police said. When Joliet police arrested Aguirre, he "indicated his involvement in the earlier robbery, and he was taken into custody," police indicated. While Aguirre was being processed at the Joliet Police Department, Aguirre told police he had ingested narcotics prior to his contact with police, authorities said. A Joliet Fire Department ambulance was summoned, and he was transported to St. Joe's hospital. Aguirre was transported to the Will County Adult Detention Facility upon release from the hospital, police officials noted.
