LIVINGSTON, AL —The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency has arrested a Sumter County man who is accused of attempted murder of an Alabama State Trooper Friday night in Livingston. Click here to subscribe to our free Tuscaloosa Daily newsletter and breaking news alerts Randy Lee Wade, 57, was taken into custody without incident at approximately 9 p.m. Saturday in Sumter County. ALEA said in a press release Sunday morning that the trooper stopped Wade for a traffic violation near Livingston and was in the process of arresting him for six warrants when Wade attempted to murder the trooper and fled the scene at Alabama Highway 28 and Interstate 20/59 just before midnight Friday. Further details about the incident have not been made public at this time, including the status of the injured trooper. The altercation did, however, prompt a statewide Blue Alert by the Alabama Fusion Center (AFC) at the request of ALEA's State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) to assist in locating Wade. Wade is now charged with attempted murder, first-degree escape and second-degree theft of property. He remains in the Sumter County Jail as of the publication of this story.
