Description
I'm a violinist/fiddler looking for medium skill level gypsy jazz musicians to play with. I'm a professional musician, but in a different style of music.
My initial goal is to get together with like minded individuals to work on and learn some standard gypsy jazz tunes together, with strings only(guitar, violin, bass). I'm already familiar with a few gypsy standards on violin. I'm presently starting to jam informally with a couple of other local guitarists who are learning la pompe and gypsy style.
I know just enough guitar to show a guitarist a very basic la pompe rhythm strum, along with a few gypsy jazz chord voicings(as opposed to typical jazz voicings), if they don't already know how to do that. There are also some good tutorials on You Tube.
This initial project is mostly just for fun and educational purposes. I'd be open to small gig possibilities if they eventually come about but I have no desire to compete with and take work away from the high level players who do this professionally.
As an aside. I know that people make jokes about washtubs, but I'm actually quite good at playing wash tub bass over gypsy jazz changes at most any tempo or key. I enjoy opportunities to jam with others on the bass.
