Drummers, drummers, drummers and a "working band".

Description

Funny how so many drummers are out there looking for a "working band". Paid gigs only? Drummers don't have to learn chords, don't have to learn lyrics, don't have to be competent soloists, they don't even need to be musical. They can just keep a beat, never fearing about being out of tune or hitting the wrong note. If they stop it is a break if they keep playing over a break it is a drum fill. I always wonder why would a working band need a drummer if they are a "working band"? Wouldn't they already have a drummer? And if a "working band" needed a drummer I am sure there would be an ad on Craigslist stating that a "working band" is in need of a drummer. Personally, I have gone through about 155 drummers the past 55 years of playing professionally. Some were absolutely great, a few were quite dreadful, many were good, quite a few were stuck in one hard rock style and could not play a shuffle, let alone a progressive style. I also play drums and would never put such a request, but that is just me. And those who I have played drums for have come to know that I am the only drummer who could never be considered a flake. Oh oh, here comes the angry flagger.
