Description
Festival of Lights Seasons In Seven presenting the sights, sounds, and sensations of the season, Seasons In Seven is the only "Holiday Celebration" East of the River. Brought to you by Washington Parks and People, KonsiderDis, and Supa Radio. The celebration will feature a holiday concert performed by local choirs. Offering an inter generational family-oriented blend of the traditional celebration of lighting our Peace Tree and celebrating the Winter solstice, and serene reflection, the festival theme reflects the special community members of Ward Seven. Continuous family entertainment in the Historic Marvin Gaye Park area includes outdoor caroling, puppet shows, and an assortment of musical guests. Holiday foods and beverages are also available, as is seasonal shopping with a selected few local black-owned businesses for your last-minute holiday needs. Average festival visitation times are between 75 and 90 minutes. Visitors wishing to hear our musical selections should arrive early to ensure hearing your favorite artist. The Lights Exhibition is a walk-through event that will last around thirty minutes. All entertainment areas are either indoors or fully tented but visitors should dress for the weather. During festival hours temperatures typically are in the low to mid-40s. Rubber-soled shoes, warm socks, gloves, and ear coverings are recommended, especially on colder nights. Outlined in lights, the entry path is somewhat uneven and darkened for effect. While accessible to those with disabilities, the festival is not recommended for the frail.
