Come join us for a course on making shadow "boxes" with the laser cutter!
Skill Level- Intermediate
After being trained on the Blackcat Laser, students will design their own light shadow “boxes.” These cut-out “boxes'' can either cast shadows on the areas around them or block light to produce an image inside the “box” itself. We will cover the design process and assembly of lights and components so that each student can create their own individualized “box”. Whether students want to make a cube, a pyramid, or an icosahedron, the choice is theirs. Basic knowledge of software like Inkscape and Illustrator recommended.
The Fabville Fabrication Laboratory is housed at Somerville High School in a newly designed Engineering classroom which offers a dynamic co-working space comprised of daytime high school classes and afterschool programs for students and adults. When you arrive at the main entrance of the school, you will be greeted by a door monitor and directed downstairs slightly to the right as you enter. At the bottom of the stairs hang a left and you will have found FabVille.
In order to ensure the safety of students and community members alike, all users must fill out a membership form before visiting FabVille. Bring your student or government-issued ID with you when visiting FabVille. Thank you
