In the cool of the evening when everything is getting kinda groovy… Okay, the evenings in Austin are still hot as f*ck… but we at Ethereal Gift Collective know spooky season is almost here, and we are ready! Join Courtney of @agcandles and Mak of @makjaggertarot in an evening of tarot, the practice of ritual magick, and wine… and leave with your very own handmade, personalized, intention infused spell candle! Who we are: Mak is the proprietress of Mak Jagger Tarot—an Austin based magick maven and intuitive consultant with a global reach. She has specialized in the art & language of tarot as a therapeutic practice for over two decades. Profiled by Forbes and nominated by the readers of the Austin Chronicle as a finalist for the Best Reader in Austin in 2021, she is is the host of one of the longest running and most well loved tarot experiences in the world on Airbnb Experiences. She is a lifelong witch who curates bespoke spells and rituals for her clients. Courtney is a professionally trained Sommelier and candle maker who loves entertaining guests with her craft. She is the co-owner and one of the curators of the Ethereal Gift Collective, Austin’s premiere luxury gift shop. She works with local artisans to source her materials and collects and repurposes one-of-kind vintage glassware as candle vessels. She also curates bespoke fragrances for a variety of tastes. She truly offers something for everyone! What we will do: We will open our 2.5 hour session by offering wine and introducing ourselves. Mak will start us off by formally open the magical circle, and leading a discussion on ethical manifestation practices, effective ritual magik and spell crafting, and how to anoint your candle with intention. Next, Courtney will then lead the group in selecting their ideal vessel and will begin guiding you in crafting your candle! All of the proper tools to make a coco or apricot wax candle—including a choice of cotton or wood wick, and a choice of 25 different fragrances for blending your perfect spell candle to take home. Many of the 6 vessel options double as a usable wine glass after the spell is cast! One by one, attendees will meet with Mak upstairs in her swanky tarot loft for a 6 card tarot reading, and a private discussion to clarify the intentions being set with the candle. The group will also be offered suggestive prompts to discuss while making your candles that promote a safe and open discussion amongst participants regarding esoteric practices and all things witchy and woo-woo! Courtney, our hostess downstairs, is more than happy to share her insights on life, love, motherhood—and, of course, her vast knowledge of wine. Once all the reading sessions are completed, Mak will return downstairs to offer to the group her suggestions for how to use your candle in ritual in order to manifest your intention into reality. She will then close the circle, and send you out into the night. Your candles will be placed delicately in a box to take home and allow to fully cure before using them to cast your spell. We at Ethereal Gift Collective take COVID protocol very seriously and ask that you are vaccinated or plan to wear a mask during this indoor event. Where we will be: Ethereal Gift Collective is a luxury gift shop located in Austin’s Arboretum neighborhood. Curated by Courtney Smith-Bush of AG Candles and Cynthia Castorina of Modavinte, the shop showcases a variety of primarily femme identified artisans and Austin’s finest local makers. EGC is also the location of the Mak Jagger Tarot Loft. A trip upstairs is a gorgeous journey into another world altogether.
