Press release from Greater Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce: 2021-11-19 Hanson Street Extension Sign Repairs On Tuesday, November 23, 2021, between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., work crews will be replacing Sign Supports at two locations within the Hanson Street median, requiring temporary lane closures of the inner lanes. These temporary closures will be in the vicinity of Van Buren Street, just east of the Veronica S. Shoemaker Boulevard Roundabout, and the Golf Course Access Road, just west of the Ortiz Avenue Roundabout. Polk Street Gravity Sanitary Sewer Main Repair Public Works will be doing an emergency repair to the gravity sanitary sewer main on Polk Street between Desoto Avenue and Washington Avenue on Saturday November 20th. The road will be closed to through traffic beginning at 7:30 AM to approximately 4:30 PM to complete the repair. Please feel free to contact if you need any additional information. Schoolhouse Road Drainage Repair Starting Monday, October 18, 2021 the outside Northbound lane on Schoolhouse Road East from Star Lane to Shoemaker Lane will be closed for drainage repair through November 30, 2021. Please watch for signage and use caution in the area. This schedule is subject to change due to inclement weather and unforeseen underground conditions. Rosa Parks Transportation Center Construction & Renovation The Rosa Parks Transportation Center at 2250 Widman Way in the City of Fort Myers (Lee County) is scheduled to commence renovation in early November and is expected to be completed by the end of June 2022. The renovations will include: adding additional bus berths along Hendry Street, changing the vehicle access from Jackson Street to Widman Way, adding several on site bus berths, building canopies, accessibility upgrades and interior renovations. Motorists, pedestrians and bicyclists should use caution and be aware of construction equipment and vehicles working in the project area. Carillon Woods Drainage Improvements Drainage and road improvements will begin in the neighborhood on October 11, 2021. The project is expected to be completed April 2022. First Street and Second Street Two-Way Traffic Conversion Project. Phase I will convert First, Second and Seaboard streets from one-way to two-way traffic. Work is expected to occur Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.; however, some night and weekend work may be necessary. This project is expected to be completed in summer 2022. Palm Beach Boulevard/First Street Motorists should expect the inside westbound lane closed from Seaboard Street to E. Riverside Drive. Motorists may experience intermittent lane closures and momentary traffic delays in the northbound lane of Veronica S. Sunset Road Sunset Road from Linhart Avenue to Maple Avenue will be closed to through traffic while crews install underground utilities. Nelson Street Nelson Street from Linhart Avenue to Hanson Street will be closed to through traffic while crews install underground utilities. Maple Avenue Maple Avenue from Sunset Road east to the end of the road will be temporarily closed while crews install sanitary sewer pipe. FDOT Pedestrian Safety Construction Project on US 41 from Winkler Avenue to SR 82/Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard entails installing and relocating utilities and constructing medians on US 41/Cleveland Avenue from Winkler Avenue to SR 82. • Motorists should expect Hanson Street as a right-in/right-out only travel pattern on the west side of US 41/Cleveland Avenue. • Motorists should expect Hanson Street as a right-in/right-out only travel pattern on the east side of US 41/Cleveland Avenue. • Motorists should expect Linhart Avenue closed on the west side of US 41/Cleveland Avenue. • Motorists should expect side road closures from Winkler Avenue to Victoria Avenue throughout the duration of the project. Motorists should expect intermittent northbound and southbound lane closures and detours on US 41/Cleveland Avenue during daytime and nighttime/overnight hours Monday through Friday throughout the duration of the project, weather permitting. Additional work includes installing drainage structures, pedestrian signals, upgrading signals and lighting, and resurfacing existing highway. The project will be constructed in three segments. Each segment will have majority of construction completed prior to moving to the next segment Construction will begin on the first segment from Winkler Avenue to Carrell Road. Crews will work on the west side of the road initially and when that work is completed, they will shift to the east side of Cleveland Avenue/US 41. The expected project completion date is the summer 2022. The Contractor is Ajax Paving Industries of Florida, LLC. Treeline Avenue, Fort Myers (ROW2021-00357): RYANGOLF Corporation will be performing roadway and sidewalk improvements beginning Friday, November 12, 2021 and continuing through Wednesday, November 24, 2021. Asphalt pavement, concrete sidewalk, concrete curbing, and drainage improvements will be performed. The southbound lanes of traffic on Treeline Avenue just south of Colonial Boulevard will be subject to periodic lane closures between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. on weekdays. US 41/Cleveland Avenue over the Caloosahatchee River: Maintenance contract project: Motorists should expect intermittent northbound and southbound lane closures from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. weekdays, while crews perform maintenance on the bridge, weather permitting. Motorists should expect slow moving traffic and possible delays. SR 82/Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard from Forum Boulevard to Lee Boulevard: Maintenance contract project: Motorists should expect intermittent eastbound and westbound lane closures during daytime hours from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays, while crews construct turn lanes weather permitting. Motorists should use caution as crews work near the roadway. SR 80/Palm Beach Boulevard from Tarpon Street to Superior Street: Maintenance contract project: Motorists should expect eastbound and westbound lane closures during nighttime/overnight hours from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. while crews repair asphalt, weather permitting. Motorists should use caution as crews work on the roadway. November 25, 2021 Turkey Trot 5K– Fort Myers Track Club will conduct a 5K Turkey Trot starting at the Edison Home and proceeding on Manuels Dr. onto Cortez. They run south on Cortez all the way to Rosado Way. The runners then turn north off Rosado Way to Silvestre Dr. up to Moreno and then turn right back to Cortez. The runners then head north all the way back to the Edison Home. The run will be from 7am to 9:00am.
