Creative Writing Workshop Saturdays 3:00-5:30 November 27, 2021 – December 18, 2021 ( online via Zoom ) Creative writing workshop for all levels based on the Amherst Writers + Artists approach, a non-academic, non "correct English" yet structured approach to expressing our voices. Groups of writers, writing together, for periods of four to ~six consecutive weeks. In Phase I we write new work together. (In Phase II, we polish, publish.) Phase I: The Practice of New Work The group writes together in response to a prompt. The leader writes and reads along with the participants. The group responds to new writing with positive feedback remarking on only “what is strong” and “what stays with me.” The leader gently guides this process. No questions or suggestions are offered in response to new work. All work is treated as fiction to protect it as "art" and to protect the vulnerability of the writer and is not discussed outside the group. No work written outside the workshop is read in the Phase I workshop.
