Here are the top stories in San Diego today: Mayor Todd Gloria announced the city of San Diego will move forward with its requirement for all city employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by Dec. 1 as a condition of employment. The city will provide medical and religious exemptions on a case-by-case basis, as required by law. Any city employee who refuses to get vaccinated and is not provided with an exemption will be fired. (City News Service)The unemployment rate in San Diego County decreased to 5.3 percent in October, down from a revised 5.6 percent in September and well below the year-ago estimate of 8.4 percent, according to figures released by the state Employment Development Department. This compares with an unadjusted unemployment rate of 6.1 percent for California — which decreased from 6.4 percent in September — and 4.3 percent for the nation — down from September's 4.6 percent — during the same period. (City News Service)The San Diego County Treasurer-Tax Collector's Office reminded residents to check for tax refunds before it rolls the $713,585 unclaimed into the county's general fund. The county still has 1,771 unclaimed refunds in a list that can be searched at sdttc.com. To date, 77 claims have been received and $39,908 has been reunited with its rightful owners.
