Press release from Cosumnes Community Services District: November 19, 2021 The Cosumnes Community Services District board on Nov. 17 approved Unity Park and Arnold J. Adreani Park as the names of two future parks in Elk Grove. Names were submitted by the community earlier this year and reviewed by the District's Park Naming Committee. The District's park naming criteria encourages names that celebrate the natural environment, call attention to points of pride in the community, or to people, events and geography that have shaped Elk Grove. Arnold J. Adreani was nominated by friends for his dedication and contributions to education in Elk Grove. Adreani, known as "Dr. A", was the principal at Joseph Kerr Middle School for 26 years and an active member of the Elk Grove Regional Scholarship Foundation since 1992. He passed away last year at the age of 83. The future Arnold J. Adreani Park is a 2.5-acre park located in the Sheldon Farms North development in the Laguna area of Elk Grove. The turnkey park has a "great outdoors and camping" theme. The name Unity Park was submitted by community members who wished "to capture the ethnic and cultural diversity of Elk Grove," they wrote in the nomination. The future Unity Park is a 4-acre park located in the Crooked Creek development of east Elk Grove, between Waterman Road and Grant Line Road. The park design concept will be developed by the District's planning team. Adreani Park is expected to be completed in 2023 and Unity Park is projected for 2024.
