DOWNERS GROVE, IL — Downers Grove residents are encouraged to gather up their gently used winter coats and accessories to donate to the village's Winter Coat Drive. The coat drive kicks off Nov. 29. Drop boxes will be available to accept donations at the following locations: Downers Grove Village Hall, 801 Burlington Ave. Downers Grove Public Works, 5101 Walnut Ave. Downers Grove Police Department, 825 Burlington Ave. Downers Grove Fire Department Station Two, 5420 Main St. Coats and other donated items should be clean, wearable and free of holes and stains. Donations will be accepted through Jan. 7 and will benefit local organizations that include DuPage PADS, the Midwest Shelter for Homeless Veterans and Sharing Connections.
