CHICAGO — Three stores were damaged Friday night, one of which was looted, authorities said. The incidents came as demonstrators took to Chicago streets in protest of the Kyle Rittenhouse not guilty verdict, but it wasn't clear if they were connected. Demonstrators protested the verdict during at least two events Friday evening in Chicago. According to police, multiple people pulled up to Neiman Marcus on the Magnificent Mile Friday evening at around 6:45 p.m. They got out of their vehicles and ran into the department store, taking a "large amount" of merchandise and then fleeing in three cars, officials said. The window of another store was smashed later Friday night in the Loop area, police said. Nothing was reported stolen. A video game store in the Chatham neighborhood also reported an unknown amount of merchandise was stolen at around 6:30 p.m. No one was in custody in relation to any of the incidents as of Saturday afternoon, police told Patch. At 2 p.m. Saturday, another protest began on Federal Plaza in Chicago, organized by Chicago Black Lives Matter and other organizations.
