JASPER, AL — The Walker County Sheriff's Office has arrested and charged a man suspected of shooting a dog with a crossbow earlier this month. Click here to subscribe to our free Tuscaloosa Daily newsletter and breaking news alert Ralph Lynn Woods was named as a suspect on Nov. 9 after the sheriff's office posted photos showing a dog with an arrow through its neck. Thankfully, the dog was rescued by the Walker County Humane Society and a concerted effort was launched to locate Woods. Woods reportedly avoided law enforcement after a warrant was issued for his arrest, but deputies managed to catch up with him Saturday morning, finding him hiding under a mattress at a residence in Walker County. Woods was taken into custody and charged with first degree animal cruelty, which is a Class C felony and punishable by up to 10 years in prison, according to Alabama Code § 13A-11-241.
