COTTONDALE, AL — The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6022 is set to host a fundraiser on Dec. 11 to raise money for one of its employees who lost her home to a fire in Elrod earlier this month. Click here to subscribe to our free Tuscaloosa Daily newsletter and breaking news alerts As Patch previously reported, no one was injured in the fire, but the home was a total loss with few personal belongings remaining for VFW bartender Tabetha Nichols and her three children — two girls, ages 13 and seven, along with a three-year-old boy. A GoFundMe drive has also been launched and has already raised $1,350 from 21 donors toward its goal of $5,000. Click here to donate to the GoFundMe. The fundraising event will include a charity motorcycle ride, with registration beginning at 1 p.m. The cost for participation will be $25 per rider and $10 for passengers. Kickstands will go up at 2 p.m. for the charity ride. Barbecue plates will be served at 3 p.m. and there will be live music from Rising Tide Band and DJ Gary, which will be followed by karaoke. Click here to see a list of clothing items and sizes for donations. The VFW Post 6022 will accept donations for the family at 7001 University Boulevard East in Cottondale.
