Hi there, I'm a recent Portland transplant but long-time musician looking to start a group or join an existing one. I like playing in the realm of funk/jazz/fusion/soul, anything from Stevie Wonder to Vulfpeck to Steely Dan. However, really I'd be ok playing anything, what's more important to me is finding a group of musicians who are dedicated and willing to put in the effort to form a solid group. To me, being in a band is not just getting together to play songs once a week, it's a performance art and live shows should reflect that. I don't think I want to focus my time on writing songs, but I'm willing to create lines in an established band or do covers. I tend to like playing with people who can learn songs at a fast pace, who want to put their own spin songs, who understand the importance and nuances of playing musically, and are focused on building a quality live show. I've played in some serious bands in the past, sadly I don't have much video to show for it.
