Myrtle Beach Rockers

Murrells Inlet SC
Description
It's clear most of Myrtle Beach's CL Musicians posts are seeking experienced pros, focused on paid gigs. However, I believe there may be a lot of players both experienced and just learning that aren't interested in the demands of a gigging band, but still would love to jam occasionally. I hope you'll help create a great community for musicians at all levels, from very skilled pro musicians, all the way through novice players to get together to play with like other minded players. The primary focus will be classic rock from the 60's-90's, but can include whatever people agree to play together. MBR seeks to create a community where musicians of all levels can get together and make great music, learn from each other generally rock out without the commitment of a working band. Whether you've been a touring artist, but work and family now keep you from joining a regular band, or you just picked up your first guitar later in life and want to develop your live chops, you've got a home with the MBR! The idea would be to plan a jam, have folks sign up to attend, pick some songs, learn/practice them on your own, then meet up to jam on them together. Since you may have more players than needed for a given song, you may run through one song a few times so everyone gets to play. If the community takes off, and we can find an agreeable venue, we could plan showcase events with 2-3 pick up bands playing 6-8 songs each, so folks with the inclination can scratch the itch to gig once in a while. Participants would kick in to cover costs for a space for the jam. Spread across several players, a few hours of studio time should be pretty minimal. If someone hosting a jam has space, the cost would be zero, but this part will need to be worked out. I was part of a group like this in the DC area and they had nearly 100 members and did events every month or so (with 10-15 participants at each) at 2 different studios with showcases a couple of times a year. If you think a community like this could work here in the MB area lets talk. Looking for Guitar players, Bass Players, Drummers, Key's, Vocalists at any level. The main goal is to have some fun, make some music, learn and grow as musicians. I expect the community would also serve as a band incubator for those inclined to gig. If you are interested let me know your: direct e-mail: (note if you only reply through CL relay, I will not get your email so include it in the body of your reply) Instrument/level: Vocals Y/N and level: Musical Interests: I'll compile the list and if there is enough interest, I will set up the coordinating web site and we'll move forward from there. So quit looking at CL and Band Mix and lets make something awesome happen! ROCK ON! Bill
