Front Steps Youth Summit Coming on Saturday December 4 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Front Steps Youth Summit will bring together the youth across the city to address critical issues that they face on a daily basis. We will host breakout sessions to address the following topics; drug/alcohol prevention, responding to authority, social media pressures, gang involvement prevention, bullying/ peer pressure, and teen dating violence. The breakout sessions will be followed by Q & A discussion panel with our guest speaker Karyssa Kestranek. Ms. Kestranek suffered a traumatic brain injury while being the passenger of a drunk driver. We want participants to commit to learning through open dialogue, along with promoting an ongoing community service and support for our young people. We will have plenty of community resources on hand along and will conclude the show with a music performance. We will have raffles prizes, giveaways, for participants. Today, Front Steps is settling into our new home, St. Joseph’s Commons, located at 2554 West 25th Street. Named for the Catholic order of our founders, we now inhabit a 68 unit one-bedroom state-of-the-art permanent supportive housing facility for individuals who have experienced chronic homelessness with mental illness and/or substance abuse disorders. It is a reflection of our respect and esteem we hold for those we serve.
