Description
What is Chronic Homelessness? Understanding the psychology, unique challenges they endure, and how to interact with dignity and respect. We are excitied to announce this great opportunity! Join us to learn all about chronic homelessness. Did you know that over half of our Orange County folks experiencing homelessness are chronically homeless? Why is chronic homelessness different from homelessness? Did you know chronic homelessness isn't only the definition of one's behavior but chronic homeless can be caused by traumatic experiences & psychological changes of long-term exposure to the streets. You will learn why this is so important in understanding the best ways to help them end their chronic homelessness and find restoration. This two & half hour workshop focuses on those experiencing chronic homelessness, specifically on substance use abuse and alcoholism. We take a deep dive into the background that is found to be the common thread for the majority that are chronically homeless. We look at the psychology and representative characteristics with an empathetic eye. We discuss ways to effectively communicate with dignity and respect. We tear apart the stigmas and stereotypes by reviewing real data. We will look at a real life story of how someone falls into chronic homelessness and how they climb their way out of the hole with Our Father's Table Homeless Intervention Program - Project:Restoration. Q&A to follow workshop. Refreshments will be served. OFT is the missing link in ending homelessness. Our Father’s Table Project: Restoration, Homeless Intervention Program, has a solution that breaks the cycle of chronic homelessness, one person at a time. Our work is important because it addresses homelessness at its cause knowing chronic homelessness is a symptom of a deeper-rooted problem. OFT changes lives, by giving a hand up, not a hand out! Our work is cost effective and it does not create another program. Our unique approach puts us in the center of their life as mentor, advocate and most importantly genuine friend giving unconditional love and guidance. We have lifted over 300 homeless off the streets and 95% have successfully broken their cycle of homelessness.
