Description

Poetry Workshop of Wholeness and Renewal for Women's Christmas. Meditative Etymologies for "Nollaig na mBan." Please join our Poet, Mary Lynne Gasaway Hill, for a time of respite with the words of winter, captured in her collection of poetic meditations, Horizons of Joy: Poetic Thresholds for Winter. This 90-minute workshop offers time to rest, time to write, and time to reflect with a focus on wholeness and renewal in winter. The women of Ireland who worked so hard over Christmas are celebrated throughout the country on January 6, "Nollaig na mBan," also known as Little Christmas or The Feast of the Epiphany. "Nollaig na mBan" (pronunciation Null-ug na Mon), which can be translated from Irish (Gaelic) as "Women's Christmas," is one of Ireland's biggest traditions and is observed on January 6. On this day, women traditionally get a much-needed rest after catering to everyone during the holiday festivities. ZOOM: 975 124 0523 Andrew J. Hill is an Associate Professor of Philosophy at St. Philip's College in San Antonio, Texas, and a 2019 Fellow in the Global Studies Division of Stanford University.
