We are an affiliate of Philly-based JumpStart Germantown, a program that focuses on building local real estate investors. We welcome any interested participants who are looking for mentorship and guidance on how to find, rehab, and profit from real estate! Jumpstart is a new model for community development that provides training, mentoring, networking, and financing options for aspiring local developers. The objectives of Jumpstart: • create opportunities for local residents to invest in and develop neighborhood residential development projects • build wealth locally • support scattered-site rehabilitation (as opposed to urban renewal) • encourage a healthy mix of affordable and market-rate housing that lessens neighborhood gentrification • improve neighborhood safety and raise property values through blight reduction • help first-time investors become more attractive to traditional lenders. We see Harrisburg's housing challenges as an opportunity to redevelop and revitalize our city's landscape! Programming that drives resolution for the stated issues, will aid in stabilizing the quality of housing stock, diversify home ownership and entrepreneurship, undertake broad neighborhood revitalization, and create a long-term housing development strategy. Our initiative will garner improvements for the city's housing infrastructure, and will also achieve positive economic, environmental, safety, and health impacts that will benefit the entire city!
