Macro (Close up) Nature Photography with Milton Heiberg Wednesday December 8, 2021, 7:00–8:30 PM, Zoom planning session Saturday, December 11, 2021, 9:00–11:00 AM, Field photography at Leu Gardens Tuesday, December 14, 2021, 7:00–8:30 PM, Show and tell critique session This three-part workshop will be given as two ZOOM classes in your home, with a Saturday field work session at Leu Gardens. The field work will require wearing masks and maintaining social distances. Participants should own a DSLR or a MSLR camera. Additional equipment will be discussed at our planning session. Upon registration, please email three of your favorite photos (any subject) to [email protected] for review at the first session. Please include your phone number in this email. Wednesday December 8, 2021, 7:00–8:30 PM, Zoom planning session Zoom session: We will discuss the optional equipment that you may or may not already own (close-up attachment lenses, extension rings, macro lens, and telephoto lenses). We will cover photography of wildflowers, insects, butterflies, and other small creatures. We will also discuss shooting flying insects with telephoto lenses. Saturday, December 11, 2021, 9:00–11:00 AM, Field photography at leu Gardens We will meet inside the entrance of the Leu Gardens’ main building armed with camera equipment, and masks. After a short technique review, we set out to the Butterfly Garden and other niches throughout the grounds. You will look at small nature subjects from a whole new perspective, and visually study their beauty (in a brand-new light—both literally and figuratively). Tuesday, December 14, 2021, 7:00–8:30 PM, Show and tell critique session Prior to this class, please select and email five photos from Saturday’s session to [email protected]. Zoom session: Constructive critique sessions are probably the most valuable experiences for any photographer.
