JENNY DELACRUZ, AWARD-WINNING AUTHOR AND FOUNDER OF COBBS CREEK PUBLISHING, WILL READ 2 OF HER PICTURE BOOK SERIES. 'For the sixth grade students in Ms. Mélange’s class, Friday is the best day of the week. Because that’s the day Ms. Mélange takes them on a new adventure through world history, exploring the past and how it reflects our present. In this delightful history book, Ms. Melange takes her students through the tumultuous, often ignored origins and cultural impact of Haiti. Tackling their fight of independence and the country’s struggles thereafter, Friday Stories Learning About Haiti provides a nuanced, thoughtful look at history that celebrates Haiti’s unique culture and diverse heritage." Jenny Delacruz is a counselor, author, and CEO of Cobbs Creek Publishing. She has a background in counseling and African Studies. Cobbs Creek Publishing creates high quality picture books that promote critical thinking skills and emotional intelligence. We partner up with organizations to bring awareness to the importance of a multicultural library. Please note, out of concern for everyone’s well-being during the COVID-19 pandemic, we require attendees of our in-person events to wear masks at all times. Advance registration via eventbrite required for all events. Seating is limited so that we may safely gather according to a social distancing protocol. Event registrations will be honored until 15 mins after start time of the event; afterwards, availabilty will be on a first-come basis. A cooperative bookstore and social center for abolition, autonomy, ecological self-determination, & affirmation of worlds imagined and made by Black, Brown, Indigenous liberation.
