WALTHAM, MA — A commuter rail train caught fire in Waltham Thursday evening, causing delays in both directions, reported 7 News Boston.
At approximately 4:45 p.m., Waltham firefighters responded to reports of a fire that started under the wheelset of an inbound Fitchburg Line train.
Fire officials say the blaze was caused by a buildup of dry leaves on the train tracks.
All passengers were able to remain on board while the fire was extinguished and regular service resumed about an hour after the incident.
