SARASOTA, FL — A 35-year-old Sarasota man faces charges after using a messaging app to upload child pornography videos, the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office said in a news release. William Anderson has been charged with 40 counts of possession of child sexual abuse material and one count of transmission of child sexual abuse material by electronic device. In October, detectives received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children after several child pornography videos were uploaded to Kik, an online messenger app. Detectives used the IP address used to upload the videos to identify Anderson as the suspect, the sheriff's office said. When they searched his cell phone, they found 40 explicit images and videos with victims ranging from 4 to 14 years old. During an interview, Anderson admitted to distributing the illegal images to others online. He was arrested Tuesday and remains in custody on $615,000 bond while the investigation continues.
