Press release from Greater Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce: 2021-11-18 Connect with your inner voice, try something new and socialize, create and discover. This December, take an art class and get inspired! Collage and Mixed Media (Ages 16+) Mondays, November 29 – December 20 • In this four week course, students will be exposed to various mixed media techniques with an emphasis on collage. This will be a fun and experimental class for anyone who wants to try but doesn't know how to go about it. It will also have relevance for the seasoned artist who wants to try something different. Fine Art Acrylics Wednesdays, December 1 – 22 • In this critique based class student's artwork and ideas will be shared freely. Each class begins and ends with a group critique session. In between group sessions students work at individual stations at their own pace. Chair Yoga for Every Body Mondays, December 6 – 27 • Chair yoga is an ideal form of exercise for anyone no matter skill level. In this class we will be focusing on balance, flexibility, and mindfulness. Students who practice Chair Yoga regularly can also enjoy other health benefits of yoga such as, stress reduction, improved mood, and an overall sense of well-being. Abstract Painting Mini Workshop (ages 18+) Saturdays, December 4 – 18 • Take a journey through different aspects of abstract painting and find what works for you as an artist. Mila demonstrates painting intuitively by tapping into emotions instead of using recognizable imagery. This practical, fun, and process-oriented workshop will guide you to confidence, clarity and freedom of expression in your art. If you're looking to uncover and develop what's unique about YOUR artistic voice, or to loosen up your art, that's what this workshop is all about. Jumpstart/Refresher Watercolor Basics – Onsite Class (Ages 13+) Workshop, December 11 • Let us help you un-funk your walls! This white-elephant-style sale will help you cycle out art that no longer fits your aesthetic, purchase new art and support the Alliance as 100% of proceeds go right back into our community and our mission to transform lives and improve our community through the arts. Wine.0 Workshop Thursday, December 16 • Happier than happy hour, our Wine.0 Workshop is an introduction into the myserious and delicious world of wine! A combination of fun and education, there will be an hour and a half of classroom conversation and instruction, followed by an hour and a half of wine tasting and socializing. Sip back, relax and develop a good foundation of wine knowledge and an understanding of how to taste wine — the perfect event for a celebration or break from the routine! Not On My Walls Pop-Up Exhibition Exhibits December 2 – 4 • Let us help you un-funk your walls! If you are an Alliance member, consider submitting two (2) original 2D or 3D artworks for exhibit in the gallery. All works must be for sale and priced $200 or under. 36th Annual All Florida Exhibition Deadline is Monday, January 24 • This annual show is the most anticipated of the year. As the name suggests, this exhibition features pieces created by artists working in a wide variety of media from all over the 65,000 square miles that make up Florida. The juried entries come together for an award-winning and exciting exhibition representing today's contemporary Florida artists.
