Description
FRAMINGHAM, MA — The Union Twist cannabis retail store got its final license approved by the Cannabis Control Commission (CCC) on Thursday, clearing the way for the Route 9 store to open.
Before Union Twist can open, the state must inspect the license a final time, among other checks. After that, the store can open after three days, but may take longer than that.
Union Twist, which will be located 630 Worcester Road, first received its provisional state retail license one year ago. But the store has a much longer history in Framingham. The dispensary was the first to sign a host-community agreement with the city in spring 2019. The store has agreed to pay Framingham a one-time $50,000 fee, plus 3 percent of gross sales, according to the host-community agreement.
Since that agreement was signed in 2019, three other cannabis retail stores have opened in Framingham: Temescal Wellness, 665 Cochituate Road; Cultivate, 250 Worcester Road; and Nova Farms, 1137 Worcester Road.
Union Twist has two other stores in the works in Newton and Boston. The CCC has not yet approved final licenses for those stores.
