GLEN COVE, NY — The holidays are just around the corner — and in the spirit of giving, Assemblymember Charles Lavine (D-Glen Cove) is encouraging Long Islanders to donate to his annual toy drive. The lawmaker says he will donate new, unwrapped gifts to families in need from the Glen Cove Day Care Center, which was severely damaged by the remnants of Hurricane Ida this summer. "I am so pleased to be able to help the resilient kids of the Glen Cove Day Care Center whose lives, and learning, has been disrupted by the devastating floods associated with Hurricane Ida," Lavine said. Contact-free drop-offs can be made at Lavine's district office (1 School St., Suite 303-B, Glen Cove) Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The number is 516-676-0050. In addition, toys can be left at the Oyster Bay-East Norwich Public Library (89 E. Main St., Oyster Bay) or the Bryant Library (2 Papermill Rd., Roslyn) during library hours. Those who cannot drop off gifts then are encouraged to call Lavine's office to schedule a time to have them picked up from their doorstep. Donations will be accepted through Dec. 17.
