DEFINITION To provide a wide variety of maintenance and repair work on District buildings and facilities. Supervision: General supervision is provided by the Director of Buildings and Grounds Examples of Duties: This is a journey level class in the Maintenance Worker series. Positions in this class may be flexibly staffed and are normally filled by advancement from the level I or when filled from the outside, require prior building maintenance experience. Appointment to the level II requires that the employee be performing the full range of duties for the class and meet the qualification standards for the class. A Maintenance Worker II is expected to perform assigned duties with only occasional instruction or assistance and work is normally reviewed only upon completion. Depending upon assignment, duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:  Troubleshoot and repair classroom HVAC systems.  Install, troubleshoot and repair plumbing fixtures and systems.  Repair and replace door hardware; open and close mechanisms, hinges, locks and rekey.  Install, troubleshoot and repair electrical equipment and wiring.  Install, troubleshoot and repair lighting fixtures.  Install and troubleshoot fire alarm output devices.  Complete minor asphalt and concrete repairs  Repair and replace window hardware and glass.  Perform general interior and exterior painting.  Provide general carpentry work using standard hand and power tools and equipment.  Utilize energy management system to troubleshoot and control school HVAC systems. Knowledge of: Working knowledge of the basic operations of tools, methods and terminologies used in building maintenance and construction work; basic carpentry, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, door hardware and painting. Computer skills. Safe work practices. Ability to:  Acquire skill quickly in work requiring mechanical aptitude and ability.  Use hand and power tools and shop equipment skillfully and safely.  Read and interpret blueprints and working drawings.  Handle a variety of work orders and complete work assignments on schedule.  Work independently.  Work cooperatively with co-workers.  Work with teachers and administrators to get the work done.  Communicate in a positive and professional manner  Keep work areas safe and orderly.  Expand skill set to meet the specific needs of the District. Maintenance II Job Description Continued Typical Physical Requirements Frequently stand and walk for extended periods; stoop, kneel, and crouch to pick up or move objects, office equipment, and furniture; ability to perform heavy physical labor for sustained periods of time; physical ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds; physical ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 150 pounds with assistance; normal manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination; corrected hearing and vision to normal range; verbal communications; use hand and power tools, including saws, electric drills, pipe threaders, joiners, welders and jack hammers. Typical Working Conditions: Work is performed in a variety of District facilities both inside and outside in various types of weather; exposure to controlled and hazardous substances, pesticides, and other chemicals; continuous contact with staff and the public. Experience and Education:  Equivalent to a twelfth grade education  Valid California driver’s license  Additional technical trade education and/or experience is preferred. Terms of Employment:  Salary and work year to be according to the current schedule (Range 46). Evaluation:  Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with District policies and procedures and existing contract between Cambrian School District and the California School Employees Association, Local 641.
