Position Summary The Facilities Specialist is responsible for repairs, maintenance, and oversight of assigned Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Santa Rosa facility/facilities. The Facilities Specialist’s responsibilities include the care, appearance, safety, and general oversight of assigned agency buildings, equipment, safety protocols, grounds, and in some cases, vehicles. The Facilities Specialist performs maintenance tasks, coordinates improvements / renovations, and supervises volunteers and/or contractors performing maintenance. The Facilities Specialist will have general competency to handle a wide range of maintenance and repair tasks, including carpentry, electrical, plumbing, masonry, and painting. This position will report to the Program Manager of the facility and liaise with the Senior Manager, Operations to ensure a One Agency approach to both facilities and safety. Dimensions Staff: Supervision 1-10, Direct Reports Essential Functions •Inspect buildings, equipment and grounds for cleanliness/appearance, good repair and safety; recommend maintenance or repairs in a timely, cost-efficient manner with proper documentation. Inspect and conduct necessary maintenance on buildings, rooms, and apartments as assigned. When applicable, vehicles may also be assigned. •Perform any required maintenance including carpentry, glazier, electrical, plumbing, painting and grounds maintenance. Secure and transport supplies. Coordinate with contractors when necessary. •Provide upkeep and maintenance of all yards including mowing, trimming trees/bushes, pulling weeds, etc. •Perform inspections to ensure cleanliness of property and monthly safety inspections. Conduct routine security/safety checks of buildings and grounds, including periodic cleaning and checking of building equipment (HVAC, water-heater, circuits etc.). •Keep maintenance related items stocked, organized and clean; secure and control tools and equipment against theft, abuse or misuse. •Maintain all necessary records, including invoices, purchase orders, communication records, and receipts and communicate and/or facilitate appropriate action on all paperwork. •Be aware of any maintenance, safety, or other facility issues that should be addressed and reported to management. •Respond to calls, emails, update requests and other inquiries in a professional and timely manner. •Ensure that best practice standards of care are followed in accordance with policies and procedures. •Complete required trainings and certifications within an established time period. •Perform other related duties as assigned. •Act as point person for all contracted maintenance work at assigned facility / facilities. Research vendors, secure quotes, and follow all required accounting processes, including check requests, purchase orders, and other necessary documentation. •Serve on the Safety Committee, as a site or program area representative. •Conduct and coordinate facility related duties independently, exercise sound professional judgement, with minimal documentation errors and/or corrective actions. Education, Experience, and Skills Required •High School Diploma, ability to operate equipment necessary to perform general maintenance and repairs, required; one to two years in maintenance related field, experience and demonstrated proficiency in carpentry and plumbing, experience organizing and supporting program operations, preferred. •Position competences required: oCarpentry: Perform basic rough and finished carpentry work in construction and repair of structures, such as partitions, walls, doors, fences, window frames, office furniture, roofs and shelves. oGlazier: Remove broken glass, putty or plastic; replace windows and door hardware; replace or arrange for replacement of glass for windows, doors and light fixtures. oElectrical: Perform basic electrical (non-electrician licensed work) installation and repair work in wiring for switches, outlets, plugs, cables, power circuits and appliances; repair lighting systems; inspect electrical systems for unsafe conditions. oPlumbing/Painting: Identify and perform basic repair of plumbing leaks or breaks; open clogged lines and drains; replace washers and other minor parts; maintain and monitor septic system; prepare for and apply surface paints, enamels, varnish, lacquer or stain. oGrounds Maintenance: Maintain grounds in clean and orderly manner, including mowing, trimming, weeding, aerating and fertilizing lawns; replace plants as needed and directed; replace broken sprinkler heads; adjust sprinkler system as necessary; maintain grounds equipment. •Written and verbal communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. •Ability to work individually or as part of a team •Cooperative, friendly, and helpful attitude with clients and co-workers. Ability to work closely with other employees to ensure positive, constructive environment within the program or department, and throughout the agency. •Passion and enthusiasm for the mission of CCDSR and its clients. •Computer Literacy. •Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred. •Possess valid driver's license; at least state required minimum of auto insurance. •Must pass DOJ background clearance (fingerprinting) in accordance with the Diocese of Santa Rosa’s policies, prior to start of employment.
