Here are the top stories in Burlington today: Volunteers this weekend will be participating in Flip Hunger The Bird, an annual turkey drive in Burlington to benefit Feeding Chittenden. Queen City Saints is hosting its 10th annual drop-off this Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Intervale Center. Organizers say they donated more than 900 turkeys in a virtual drive last year. This year, they're hoping people will use COVID precautions and quickly drop off all sizes of birds. (WCAX)After losing a majority of its funding, Phoenix House will be closing three sober living homes in Burlington and Brattleboro. The organization says they are working to find another entity to take on the transitional housing services, but have told residents to prepare for the worst. While the Department of Corrections has provided over $677,000 for the transitional housing, they did not renew this year due to what officials say was a number of program violations. (WCAX)A UVM class gives students entrepreneurial experience while also supporting local nonprofits. In the Introduction to Community Entrepreneurship course, a requirement for all community entrepreneurship majors, students create and launch their own pop-up businesses. Proceeds from the businesses go toward nonprofit organizations in the greater Burlington area.
