The holidays may look different this year because of COVID-19, but one thing that hasn't changed is how we celebrate the season with twinkling lights. The Austin area will offer several events where locals can enjoy an array of light displays that will get you into the holiday spirit. Stay warm in your car and cruise through light displays of every shape and size. Open nightly from Nov. 27 through Dec. 31 (except Christmas Eve and Christmas Day), with a few fun theme nights. Mozart's Coffee Christmas Lights Show will be up from Nov. 11 through Jan. 6 at its 3825 Lake Austin location. Mozart's is bringing back the reserved table option created for pandemic safety reasons in 2020, along with a general admission "standing room only" option. This year's ceremony will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Nov. 20. The event will have two snow slides and a snow play area for all the kids and big kids to play in. Stick around to the end to help Santa and Mrs.Claus light their 2o2o Christmas tree. The event will feature a traditional sing-along and downtown tree lighting from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Check back on the Downtown Austin Alliance website for more information as it becomes available. 37th Street LightsNeighbors and supporters of this tradition unite every year to string multi-colored lights and bold decorations from almost every tree, roof and fence on this residential strip of 37th Street. Walk through this two decade local tradition starting at Guadalupe and 37th streets. Opening night festivities are Dec. 10 and the displays will stay up until Jan. 1. The Yule Ball at Diagon Alley AustinDiagon Alley Austin will transform, once again, for the holidays bringing the Wizarding World back to south Austin. This year's theme will be the Yule Ball.
