DENVER, CO — If you're among the millions of Americans traveling this Thanksgiving, you may be in for some sticker shock at the gas pump. Gas prices are at a seven-year high heading into the holiday weekend, according to a recent AAA report. As of Nov. 19, the average price for a gallon of gas in the United States was $3.41. Last year, gas prices hovered around $2.12 per gallon just before the Thanksgiving holiday. RELATED: 2021 Holiday Gift Guide How much can you expect to pay at the pump in Denver? AAA data shows the average price for a gallon of gas in Denver was $3.46 on Friday. Average prices are updated daily. As of Nov. 19, gas prices were as much as $4.69 in California, $3.98 in Nevada, $3.87 in Washington state and $3.78 in Oregon. Meanwhile, Southern states including Texas, Mississippi, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Missouri and Kentucky are enjoying the nation's lowest gas prices, ranging from $2.99 to $3.18 per gallon. Destinations vary this Thanksgiving, but AAA says the top five destinations this year are Orlando, Anaheim, Dallas, Phoenix and Hawaii.
