Critics of the Task Force argued that the proposal would result in their streets turning into one large parking lot with cars of employees of nearby businesses and residences. A group named Sensible Streets Princeton has a petition urging the Council to "reject" the proposal made by the Task Force. "Appropriating home frontage for business parking spots reduces the number of spots available for residents, their guests, and home workers. Adding business parking creates narrower driving lanes with more traffic congestion and obstructed sightlines for cars and children," the group wrote in their petition. "Adding employee parking increases late-night noise and enforcement surveillance lowers property values and changes the residential character of our streets." The petition is live on their website. The group goes on to " demand a better plan" that would achieve seven goals including reduction of "traffic congestion, pollution, and noise overall." Princeton's Permit Parking Task Force includes Councilmembers Leticia Fraga David Cohen and Michelle Pirone-Lambros. Thank you for reading. Have a correction or news tip?
