WEST WINDSOR, NJ — Car thieves struck West Windsor early Friday morning, stealing a Honda Accord and valuables from an unlocked car, West Windsor Police said. In the early hours of Friday morning, burglars descended upon the Penns Neck section of West Windsor Township, and stole a Honda Accord, police said. As authorities continue to investigate, it's unclear if the key fob was inside the vehicle. Burglars also rifled through an unlocked car and stole cash, police said. Patrol Officers, Traffic Unit, and the Detective Bureau in West Windsor are investigating "in the approximately 27 square miles of West Windsor," police said. Authorities have asked residents and businesses in the Penns Neck area to check surveillance video. On Nov. 7 a South Brunswick resident was killed following a head-on collision after a teen driver crashed a stolen vehicle from Princeton. Earlier this week, two vehicles were stolen from South Brunswick. A total of 20 vehicles were targeted, with 13 being unlocked and their interiors ransacked and items stolen. The police department in all three townships has been urging residents to lock their cars and garage doors to thwart burglars. Here are a few tips to follow to prevent future thefts and burglaries: Lock your vehicles, especially when parked overnight. Double-check before going to bed. Never leave your keys or key fob in your vehicle. Always take it with you and lock your vehicle. Close and lock your garage doors at night. Call the police immediately if you witness any suspicious activity.
