WATSONVILLE, CA — A 20-year-old Watsonville man was seriously hurt Friday morning in a car crash on northbound State Route 1 south of Buena Vista Drive. He was driving his 2022 BMW motorcycle at a fast speed when he began to change lanes and crashed into a slower 2014 Mercedes driven by a Salinas woman around 9 a.m., the California Highway Patrol said in a statement. The motorcyclist was hospitalized at Natividad Medical Center. The driver did not report any injuries. An uninvolved car stopped at the scene while officials investigated the crash. A woman jumped out, stole a purse from the Mercedes and ran away toward Buena Vista Drive, CHP said. CHP asked anyone with information about the crash or the identity of the woman who stole the purse to call CHP at 831-662-0511.
