Press release from the St. Louis County Government: November 19, 2021 ST. LOUIS COUNTY, MO (November 19, 2021) - St. Louis County Executive Dr. Sam Page on Friday signed a bill accepting a grant to support the Police Department's Crimes Against Children Program. The $114,684 grant from the Missouri Department of Public Safety will fund a victim advocate, cover overtime to address a backlog of cases and support travel and training for Special Investigations Unit detectives. "This grant will provide our Special Investigations Unit the additional support it needs to get through cases more quickly," said Dr. Page. "These additional funds will help cases get into the court system and bring to justice more quickly those who have victimized children." St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney Wesley Bell also welcomed the grant. "The priorities for this grant allocation match our team's priorities and are aligned with our mission: we can never have too much advocacy for victims, especially child victims, and the pandemic has left every prosecutor's office with a well-documented backlog of cases that will require more resources and funding for attorneys to bring them to justice," Bell said.     This press release was produced by the St. Louis County Government.
