Happy Saturday, people of Duluth! It's me again, Lyndsay Kendall Oxley, your host of the Duluth Daily. First, today's weather: Partly sunny. High: 55 Low: 38. Here are the top stories today in Duluth: The $125 million project called the Eastern Regional Infrastructure Plan is set to bring more trails and will expand services to eastern part of Gwinnett County. This project will take place across 8,500 acres of land in the Dacula area over the next few years. Local officials are expecting to complete the project by 2024. The trail section of the project, also known as the Eastern Regional Greenway, will include five miles of trails along the Apalachee River. There will also be two trailheads built at Harbins Road and Winder Highway. Our county plans to connect these new trails to the existing Piedmont Pathway, stretching from Dacula to Norcross. This project also will include a few new water mains and will increase the size of existing ones. (Atlanta Journal Constitution) A Gwinnett County man is in custody after police said that he hit two people and another car with his own personal vehicle and then fled the scenes. He also is accused of charging at another man then crashed his car. Officers were alerted to the single-vehicle accident that night where the man got out of the car, took off his pants and fled from the scene. He was eventually caught and arrested. (WSB Atlanta) On Thursday, the Gwinnett County Public School board voted to give all full-time employees a one-time $1000 bonus, officially called a "salary adjustment," that will be paid in one lump sum on employees' monthly paycheck in December. This bonus comes as a Christmas gift and a "thank you" present from Superintendent Calvin Watts. (Gwinnettdailypost.com) Two parents were arrested at GCPS' monthly board meeting that was held on Thursday night. They were thrown in handcuffs before the meeting even started. One of the two women was arrested when she tried to go quickly through the metal detectors that were installed this week. Officials later found a pair of scissors in her purse that she then grabbed and struggled with the officer. She is being charged with obstruction of a police officer. The other person was arrested outside of the meeting after the school district politely asked her not to return to any future board meetings following her behavior at last month's meeting. She is charged with trespassing. (WSBTV) I wouldn't touch him with a 9 and a half foot pole even if I go see 'A Very Grinchy Christmas' at the Gas South Theater this weekend! This musical is based on Dr. Seuss' "How the Grinch Stole Christmas," and is being presented by the Southern Ballet Theatre.
