Warehouse QC and Field Tech Posting 5-21-21
Jobs
Mountain View CA
Description
We are a mindfulness product / personal meditation dome startup. We have an immediate need to run quality control checks on 20 products at our warehouse in Hayward, CA and also offer white glove delivery to our customers from time to time throughout the region and, if interested, - all over the world; working on a part-time basis Monday through Friday with their calendar locked into QC and install dates that vary depending on when the business schedule and customer requests for installations to occur. Travel / installs can be scheduled during weekends if you have other work commitments - we mostly need someone we can rely heavily on in the Hayward area who can easily travel to and from our warehouse as well as throughout the region. Opportunity for out of state/international travel will be available as well. Our 'brain' center is based in NYC - but our domes come from production to our storage and receiving facility in Hayward, California where our logistics lead and engineers are based. The warehouse QC work involves carefully opening the wooden crate that our product ships in, unwrapping internal packaging, using basic tools and basic technical knowledge to attach our product's control board and touchscreen to the product, run through a quality control checklist to ensure the product is functioning properly and is 100% free from manufacturer defects, repack the product, then reinforce the wooden crate and close it again so that it is secure and ready for shipment globally. Field Installations require breaking down the crate on-site and working with basic tools to disassemble and reassemble the dome on the other side when it reaches its destination. We have some very exciting growth on the near-term horizon - and though the job will be initially one - two installs per month that can be scheduled around your other commitments - the role will grow as we do. You need to be: - reliable and trust-worthy - valid drivers license and passport - available during standard business hours assuming your installations will be scheduled 2-4 weeks in advance and QC work will be planned at least 1-2 days in advance - able to plan logistics and work in an entrepreneur-minded manner - physically strong and work in a careful and methodical manner - able to travel and live on a budget - work with basic tools - have basic understanding of electronics and software (LEDs, touch screens, basic code updates) - field install / logistics and customer relations for new accounts setup. - travel to different markets and coordinating logistics in other markets and with inventory management. - account support and management skills; to present well to the market - and be able to intelligently interact with the customer. Compensation: QC work will be paid a flat rate of $65 per product QC'd if completed by oneself and $50 per QC if you have a helping hand to open and close crates while you perform that QC check. Each product takes approximately 2 hours to QC. Installations have a job rate of $250 per job. Compensation per install will be a project fee per job and combined with a per diem for the day of the job / day before when overnight travel is required. From time to time there may be hourly work for field servicing of existing domes, this rate is $15 per hour. Fuel and tolls for travel to our warehouse in Hayward, CA for QC work will be paid for. Travel time for installation work is not paid time, but your travel is paid for when traveling for work outside of your region - via plane / bus / etc., and will be booked as far in advance as possible and the lowest possible fares obtained. The company will coordinate with the customer and S&H logistics to determine the ideal time for delivery and install, and then coordinate with field tech; and book travel based on this basis. Each job that does not require travel / overnight will have its own contractual value totaling $250 with an additional $65 / day added when travel is involved for the day before the install and day of install. Example: - SFO to LON - Airfare booked and paid (company also pays uhaul / gas as relevant for product transportation) - $250 for job to break down crate / coordinate with customer day of install / travel to location / setup of dome and any customer support needed immediately before or after the setup to ensure 100% customer satisfaction from a successful installation. - company will add $65 / day for per diem to be allocated to food and hostel / Airbnb for the night before the install and day of. - If field tech chooses to extend stay - must be planned prior to air booking and not conflict with any other pending installs. PLEASE INCLUDE YOUR RESUME + RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE IN THE BODY OF EMAIL; EXPLAIN WHY YOU ARE SUITED FOR THIS ROLE
