The mission of Saving the Old Properties, Inc. is to instill an appreciation of history through the acquisition, restoration, and preservation of endangered historical buildings with architectural significance in the State of Indiana before they are destroyed by time or developers. Saving the Old Properties is also dedicated to the education of future generations by showing them their history in the physical form, allowing the youth to see and feel these buildings and to hear the stories they tell, and to instill pride for our country in the youth by showing the value of the past. OUR PROPERTIES: S.T.O.P. now has five buildings that we are working to preserve: the Old Blackford County Jail, the Randolph County Asylum, the Stone Mansion, Liberty High School, and Center Indiana Christian Church. Three of these properties, the Jail, the Asylum, and the Mansion, have been repaired to a state where they are again safe for the public to enter and enjoy, both for historical tours and for paranormal investigations. These properties provide an incredible look into the past for anyone who wants to visit. Work continues on all the properties to make them safe, to maintain them, and to restore them to their former glory and allow their stories to be told. HOW YOU CAN HELP: Repairs to historic buildings are extremely costly, and while our open properties do bring in revenue that goes back into the buildings, the cost to maintain and restore exceeds this revenue. Donations from people like you will go directly toward these costs and help us give these buildings a chance to teach, to inspire, and to be here in another hundred years. We need your help. Donations can be sent to Saving the Old Properties, Inc at PO Box 1, Winchester, Indiana 47394. S.T.O.P. Inc is a 501c3 non-profit organization and all donations are tax deductible.
