Our Lord Jesus Christ has instituted the Lord’s Supper and the Office of the Holy Ministry together for His pastoral care toward us. Our Lord Jesus Christ has instituted the Lord’s Supper and the Office of the Holy Ministry together for His pastoral care toward us. Yet in the life of the church, either at the time of the Reformation or today, there is a variety of challenges against His way of the Gospel in the delivery of His body and blood for us Christians to eat and to drink. In our time together, after we familiarize ourselves with such challenges old and new, we will study the Formula of Concord articles VII and VIII by hearing the mandating words of Jesus, understanding these articles in light of the key writings of Luther that are referenced, and within the context of the entire Book of Concord.
