Description

On Wednesday, November 17th, the Westborough Lions Club announced that Mill Pond student, Anish Karthick, was the first-place winner of their Peace Poster Contest. Gibbons Middle School student, Arushi Vora, placed second in the competition. The 2021-22 poster theme was: 'We are All Connected'. The posters were judged by a local art teacher on Originality, Artistic Merit, and Expression of the Theme. Westborough students ages 11-13 were allowed to participate. The posters were displayed at the Westborough Library for viewing during the weeks of November 1st through the 12th. The posters are still available for viewing at the following Vimeo link: https://vimeo.com/640733273. Anish's winning poster will now move on to the District 33A competition, where it will compete against posters submitted from the other 44 Lions Clubs in Worcester County. The contest is part of Lions Clubs International's focus on positive youth development. There are a total of four levels of competition beginning with the local club competition, the District competition, the State contest, and finally the International Competition, where the winner receives a $5,000 prize and a trip to the United Nations. We wish Anish the best of luck as his poster competes at the higher levels. The Westborough Lions are very proud of the students who entered the contest and wish them much success in their artistic pursuits.
